The Gun & The Road

by D. Lloyd   Dec 27, 2017

Two years have passed since that day,
I've been around the world twice and have felt every day

But with each bed that I lay in
I leave nothing but lies because
Even in passion the thought of you is what
Is what floods my mind

I chose the gun and you chose the road
I don't blame you I would have done the same.

Where I went wrong was thinking that I could get you back
But by the time I lay down my rifle and hang up my boots
You'll be too far gone

Because from this view that road never ends
And that gap between us will never mend

So I'll come home to where I left my life on pause
Crank up that old truck in the drive

And see just how far that road goes
