Bubble

by Phoenix ¥   May 5, 2018

It’s so perfect in here
Just me and you.
Dreaming of everything we want to see and do.
We can see the world, but they can’t see us
Looking out, being in love.

It’s kind of strange as I want to shout
‘I love this man! It’s what I’m about!’
But that would cause too much pain
So it’s my heart that takes the strain.

The walls so thin they stretch and distort
Changing everything I thought.
And each time the bubble bursts
I struggle not to die of hurt.

Only in our bubble can we be free,
And that’s the thing with bubbles
They pop too easily.

And the higher we float, before the inevitable burst
The harder we fall,
Each time feeling worse.

I’m covered in bruises
Don’t know how much more I can take
I know very soon
I’m going to be break.
I’ll be too heavy to float away
The pain weighing me down
So I’ll just have to stay.

Brilliant metaphors for this sad piece Phoenix. If only your heart could let go of this love that cannot ever be, allowing you to find your true love that's waiting for you out there. Hugs :-) x

Thanks Kitty - you’ve hit the nail on the head with letting go - I do struggle with that, especially with ‘the love that cannot be’ - I like that line.
      Great comments, as always xx

I enjoyed reading this poem, the metaphor you use to describe love in a bubble is perfect, love is so fragile sometimes it does feel like a bubble it'll eventually pop. Great imagery, I enjoy reading your poems :)

Thanks Brise! x I did have the word fragile in my original draft for precisely that reason - I should have kept it in! Take care and thanks for commenting xx
