Comments : Our Yellow

An unusual thought provoking piece. When I first read the title I thought our yellow was a dog. The on reading it i saw it related to a dream and this important yellow wasnt like any other yellow that the reader might be familiar with. The reference to someone painting a yellow smile made me think of a child. I then thought about the joy children bring and realised that the "yellow" is a metaphor. If you could sum up happiness anf joy in a colour it would most likely be yellow. Milly x

This is one of those pieces I read multiple times and noticed how distinct your voice is. This yellow isn't what others would normally describe or think of visually, it's intimate and something that seems too powerful for the world to take away. Knowing that someone is happy, whether it's a dream or reality, there is something that is precious yet awe-inspiring about sharing that feeling or memory. This poem whispers of an innocence, of a yearning back to simpler times, when you could simply feel and be "yellow" and you were content. This bond you share with this other person and the way you each saw light in each other's lives.

    Beautifully written.
