My Other Half

by DestinyAwaits   Jul 12, 2004

They say that friends will come in and out of your life,
Which ones will stay, you'll just never know.
Your true friends will stay for the good and the bad,
With love they'll help each other grow.

I can honestly say that you are a keeper,
The one who has been there to wipe my tears when I cry.
And if our understanding friendship should ever end,
That would be the day, the day that my soul would die.

In the future we'll sit back and laugh at all the things we did,
When we have lived our lives, and are old and gray.
Sitting on a porch with our grandkids,
And always saying, “Do you remember back in the day?”

Remember the late night drives hollering at boys,
And always ending up at Velano Beach.
Or New Years Eve sneaking out my window,
To the days after graduation, the days we thought we'd never reach.

One thing we will never forget are the guys,
The ones that have came and went.
Some who we gave our all, anywhere from money, down to our heart,
And look how much money we freak-in spent!

There's an understanding between you and I,
Something you don't just learn it comes natural.
And it's just not easy to come by,
Kind of like opening up an oyster and finding a pearl.

As our ups and downs will brush past us,
I will always remember or great laughs.
For you I will keep close to my heart,
Because you are my other half.
