Lessons Learned

by Wilhelm   Oct 3, 2004

This is my confession
My manner of expression
I try to ease the pain
Try to erase the shame
But I just can't learn my lesson

I write to profess my love
But when it goes from push to shove
I just can't say I love you
No matter how much I want to
And I just can't learn my lesson

All of this because I care
But tell you that I wouldn't dare
I don't know why I'm so shy
It seems its only when you walk by
And I just can't learn my lesson

But it's not so bad I suppose
When I call you summer rose
And I get to see your smile
That makes my love grow by a mile
I'm starting to learn my lesson

I remember when I saw you sleeping
And I thought that I was dreaming
Such an angel when your at rest
It sent my heart straight through my chest
I'm beginning to learn my lesson

My will grows as I write
Soon I'll have the strength to fight
Against my so conflicted mind
And If I win perhaps I'll find
I've known my lesson all this time

The lesson I've learned is one of strength
It can't be measured by width or length
The strength I've earned is strength of heart
The thing I've had straight from the start
With the lesson learned I know what to do
