I stood in the rain last night
And thought about it all
About where I was going
All about your most recent fall

The raindrops turned to tears
And as I sobbed, lightning flared

I shivered in my wet clothes

I burst out running
Fleeing from the unreal
As I ran, out of breath,

Wash me away

I know it is so hard right now
But someday, we'll understand

I tripped on the cold pavement
And as the gravel met my face
I thought about how you may fall
But not for lack of grace

Not that you've wanted to
Because you think you've had enough

But falls are there for good
Fate's insistent greed

But I'll carry you if there is the need

The rain still pouring
I lay there on the ground
I started sobbing louder

Screaming in my own head
I pulled myself to my feet
Staggered, bruised, hurt
But surely not yet beat.

Shivering, yet cleansed
