Instant Messenger - My Savior

While sitting at my desk
Just the other day
I logged on to AIM
Just to get away

My buddy list was there
From six years ago
A multitude of people
That I used to know

Screen names of aquaintances
whom I somehow had lost touch
I saw my friend from middle school
just after I signed up

She didn't have a chance
To barely sign on in
When I was saying to her
Hello, my long lost friend

We exchanged our numbers
and vowed to talk some more
Then I had to sign off
and run off out the door

The next day when I entered
I left AIM on all day
Just to watch my friends
Who somehow slipped away

But the most amazing thing happened about 6 o'clock pm
Another buddy signed in
It wasn't just a friend

It was the long lost love
whom I often write about
I wondered if I should say hello
But then I had my doubts

I froze with anticipation
I couldn't even speak
I stared quietly at the screen
With my emotions at their peek.

Then I saw a box pop up
I felt the beating of my heart
Could I have been mistaken
Or could this be a brand new start

The silence suddenly broken
The words asked "is that you, D"?
My heart suddenly washed away all of the misery

We chatted for a little while
Got some details on his life
I found out he was single
and had no wife in sight

When he said he couldn't find the "one"
A secret smile spread upon my face
Because he is my one true love That time will not erase

It has been eleven years since the night that we first kissed
But no matter how long it has been
He is the one I miss

I wish that I could tell him
How much he means to me
For he is not my past
He is my destiny

We will pass the test of time
Our love - will it survive
Still he is the only man
Who makes me feel alive

A box on my computer screen
means more than a human touch
I know there isn't a man alive
that I could want so much

I hold fate in my hands
And he still holds my heart
Somewhere , somehow, someday
We will never be apart
