The Bad News

From the book More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Leon and Tod loved baseball. When they were young, they played all the time. leon was the pitcher, and Tod played second base. Now that they were older they liked to watch baseball on tv.
"Do you think they play baseball in heaven?" Leon asked Ted one day.
"Thats a good question," said Todd. "
the one that gets there first should let the other one know somehow."
As it turned out, Tod got to heaven first. One day Leon found Tod sitting in the living room. Leon was very excited to see him. "Whats it like up there, and what about baseball?" he asked.
"When it comes to baseball, i have some good news, and i have some bad news. The good news is that we do play baseball in heaven. We have some fine teams, i even play second base. Thats the good news"
"What is the bad news?" asked Leon.
"The bad news," said Tod, "is that they have you scheduled to pitch tomorrow."
