Just after sunrise

by nicole   Apr 20, 2006

Just after sunrise the birds all begin they're song
a little old woman in her garden
busily whistles along

Nearby a stream gurgles
needing to add its own tune
there on the porch swing a
cat lazily glances to-wards June

the grass sways gracefully
as the wind dances by
it asks her to stop but she whispers *perhaps another time*

the grass hoppers chirp in the nearby fields
the little boy down the street skips by he is happy school is out a whole summer stretches to the sky

the puffy white clouds glide on the sky slowly bidding they're own time
watching the paper boy do his rounds as a gardener skillfully clips the grounds

the trees awaken to a new day
fresh fruit to be picked
taken to market & weighed
so much work to be done

off the hound goes on a run
chasing after a raccoon
there will be a shot ringing out soon

the mouse in the hill
off her little ones she shoos
while the owl peacefully rests
at his perch in the school
neglected for summer it makes a nice home for two

as I sit here & watch the goings on
I wonder how far life will be drawn
before the close of this fabricated day oh I hope soon summer is on its way
