Pipe Dream

by Braeden Monks   May 2, 2006

Once a upon a time
When the sun still shined
The world still spun
Life was easy, care free and fun
Less was more to me and you
Two years later the sky is not so blue

Blood pours in the river
The war is bigger and bigger
Reaching the far coasts
The smell of a burning like toast

Bombs one by one drop
Farmers die ablaze with their crops
The sirens and screams are lullabies
With a hole in his chest, this kid dies

The sickening slitting of a neck
Right before we watch the sun set
The smell in the air is stench of death
We ask ourselves "what is their left?"

Pretty good... there seems to be a lot of feeling in this. I've never been very good at writing 'Current Events' poems, so Kudos!
