The last goodbye

by P_isgone   Jun 10, 2006

The old man sitting by the bed,
waiting for his wife's pain to end,
she looks at him
with love written on her face,
No look can compare,
No look can replace
He smiles at her, then feels a tear
He thinks of all the memories,
all the compassion and love.
He knows when she dies
she will watch from above,
her face is getting paler,
as she struggles to open her eyes,
His wife looks so different
is she wearing a disguise?
She looks at him,
to say her last goodbye,
He holds her close,
With a tear in his eye

This was good. Was a little short. But still good. Though the last two lines seemed to throw the poem off.
    Maybe instead of this part:
    " She looks at him,
    to say her last goodbye,
and all that he can muster,
is a sob and a sigh."

    You could put:
    "She looks at him,
    To say her last goodbye.
    He holds her close,
With a tear in his eye."

That might sound stupid, I dunno. It was good though. Keep it up 5/5
