I Watched Her Die

by Brittany   Aug 31, 2006

I watched it happen from under the bed.
I know why she is lying dead.
I saw her father drag her arm,
Watched as he caused mental harm.
He hit her once, she screamed in pain.
Her tears fell down like acid rain.
He tore her shirt for more abuse.
She tried to run, it was no use.
He slapped her face for every tear,
Then left her there to drown in fear.
I watched her as she took the knife,
The tool she used to end her life.
She closed her eyes and made a fist,
Then slide the knife across her wrist.
When she was done, the cut was deep,
And she fell into endless sleep.
Silently I'd begun to cry.
I'd just watched my sister die.
Death was sending me a sign,
That I would be the next in line...
