To Our Teachers

by Daniel   Sep 9, 2006

For those who teach in nearby schools,
Who give without a word,
Teaching us with honor,
So gallantly they serve,

For every boy who leaves his home,
Returning there a man,
And every woman who made a choice,
Who made teaching a part of her plan,

For every retiring teacher,
Who gave all they could give,
To guarantee our knowledge,
And the horror that we live,

Each one who served with honor,
The short, the tall, the fat,
Here i give my thanks today,
For you taught me this and that,

I am leaving this small-town school today,
Remembering what you taught,
I will begin a new life,
Though it will be nothing that I thought.
