If

by nicole   Feb 11, 2007

If upon a bridge one day I met you by surprise
Id know you at once by the dazzling look in your eyes

and if you held out your arms to me Id run into your grasp
because Ive waited so long patiently around your neck my hands to clasp

and if you asked me how Id been without you all these years
Id hand you a bottle holding all my lonely tears

and if you bent to kiss my lips Id never refrain even if we were trapped within the pouring rain

and if you reached out to take my hand to walk for a little while
Id lightly place my hand in yours trying to suppress a smile

and if you told me you loved me
Id believe you in an instant
and if you ever had to go away I could hardly stand the distance

and when you returned to me with open arms just a simple smile from you would sooth all my alarms

and if you asked me to marry you down upon one knee Id probably start crying because thats just me

and if the days grew longer and you were still by my side Id still love you as much as the ocean is deep and wide
