Animal of the Night

by Charlene   Mar 7, 2007

I believed the words you happily stated
On the day we came together
I lie here beaten and sedated
Thinking we would love forever

You ask of me sinful things
And tell me what the devil brings

Walk down the isle, step by step
Final chance, exchange our rings
To think that you were mine and we slept
Pushed me down, bruised my body
Forced yourself while I wept

Broken heart, swollen eyes
Accidents happen and so do lies
Blow a kiss, stand and rise
Lower your glare and scrunch your fists
Never speak, freedom missed

Your arms are strong
But your words are weak
The demand of power is what you seek

Domestic violence, victimized
Silenced from the outside
Behind closed doors you take form
Forceful anger, bring out the claws

You are the predator and I am your prey
Animal of the night and not of the day
You are husband and I am wife
You are the bastard in life.
