Night [edit]

Night

Darkness drowns my room at night
My eyes flicker open like headlights
I sneak out of my torrid sheets and I go
Into the cool hallway and peer into rooms.

At night, my family's souls are in heaven
Their eyes are closed, but they're still staring
Inside they're screaming laughing dreaming.

I steer away from squeaky floorboards
The ones that echo and awaken angels.
My feet skip down stairs to break free.
And finally, I can switch open LIGHT

At night, light is as rare as diamonds
And is as extraordinary as true friends.
But my eyes scream unhappy tunes
As the light glows so strongly

To the kitchen! I fly, to where dirty dishes
Are still piled high to the ceiling or the sky
But the lonely fridge stands there waiting...

At night the fridge opens and glows so brilliantly
And the fridge becomes my open buffet
Cold left over lasagna warms my soul
And flat soda tastes so sweet and fizzes my blood.

Then I RUN around the house.
I break rules, for I am the ruler of the night
So I'm allowed to BLAST music so loud ...
Through headphones

At night, an old tune becomes a time portal
And if I just close my eyes I go back
Back to the moments that I wished I held on to longer
So I break down and I SCREAM...

Outside to the candle lit sky
Then I yell I laugh I scream and I cry
And vomit every sidesplitting emotion Ive ever felt
As I fall to me knees and my skin kisses the breeze ...
Because at night, I forget the world
And the world forgets me.
