Circularity

by Kiss My Sass   Oct 14, 2007

The baby is born
and enters his home
screaming and kicking
everyone loves him

he grows up
and turns ten
no one will play with him
girls tease him

he turns twelve
and enters high school
boys are tough
girls are snobby

he turns fourteen
and enters middle school
boys are smoking
girls are friendly

he turns sixteen
and enters yr 11
boys are high
girls are cheap

he turns eighteen
and enters uni
boys are driving
girls are in groups

He turns twenty
and enters his own place
no one around him
he lives alone

he turns thirty
and enters a career
boys in suits
girls in skirts

he turns fifty
and enters marriage
boys congratulate
girls congratulate

he turns sixty
and enters loneliness
boys forget him
girls forget him

he turns seventy
and enters a nursing home
boys are dying
girls are dying

he turns eighty
and enters dependence
boys are dead
girls are dead

he turns ninety
and enters death
boys are waiting
girls are waiting

somewhere else in the world:

the baby is born
and enters his home
kicking and screaming
everyone loves him...

The concept and thought behind this poem is very nice and interesting. Very different and very clear. Loved it for its originality. Good work!
