Superior Shadows

by Natalie84   Jan 21, 2008

In the midst of felony
A hidden piece of me
Quietly speaks out
Warnings of error
Shouting from within my soul

A savior's attempt
At redeeming virtue
Never goes unheard
Silently I hope
For an angelic shadow
To cast an innocent silhouette

Unfortunately for reality
A greater force of gloom
Takes control of me
My body drenched
In sinful perfume
The scent of crime
Rapt upon my skin

Another tainted day
Yet another offense
Another wasted attempt
At overpowering
This superior shadow

I can not conquer evil
For it is stronger than I
The spirit of vice
Has crept within
Stealing all innocence
That ever existed

This battle against
My very own shadow
Can not be beat
I'm exhausted from fighting
Painfully I must admit defeat
Shadows of evil
Have won the war

    Wow... I love this!
Excellently written poem, filled with amount of truly vivid and powerful descriptions that created original images in my mind. Every stanza is so effective, and the ending is great- it rounds up the whole poem fantastically.
I like your choice of words from the beginning to the end, and the flow is flawless in each stanza.
    Amazingly done!
    Keep writing :)

Simply amazing. The length has no negative affects, as the great power is consistent throughout. =DD

Those damn shadows.... I feel each word you've written and just know that you can overcome those damn things, it takes time, but don't give up, you will one day claim victory!
