Noone's Overdose

by Lqmanik   Oct 7, 2015

The heartbeat is hollow
A cold chill follows,
The blood temperature decreases
The death risk increases.

The ocean is calm, the river is rushed
The meds stop the pain but they cannot be flushed.
The more you swallow, the better it feels,
The bottle is empty, you crave some more pills...

The relief arrives, it washes the pain,
But you try to get up the power is drained.
Fever and nausea, plus double-vision
You want to dial 911 but you lack precision.

And you drop the phone, your limbs go numb
You want to believe the decision was dumb.
Aware of the consequences, you took the risk
The pain returns and strikes
- like a slipped disk.

The action is done, you accept the fate,
You can't go back. Now it's too late.
This world is vicious, you were always right,
Now close your eyes, have a good night.

The body is now soulless, just skin and bone,
In the silence you hear;
- a dial-tone
