The 80's

by Jason   Feb 9, 2008

Who can forget the 80's?
My life was like a paradise.
I was even spoiled.
I don't miss that feeling of being spoiled by my mother.

I saw kids shine as the stars of sitcoms in the 80's.
Ricky Schroeder and Gary Coleman are two that come to my mind.
But the 80's had adults as stars on TV.
Nell Carter and Bill Cosby come to my mind.

The 80's had a young man named Michael Jordan,
Who joined a Bulls team that were like the Cubs of the NBA.
With his gifted basketball ability,
He brought the Bulls from the NBA cellar to a playoff contender.

The 80's was a good decade for game shows and cartoons.
There was Press Your Luck, Scrabble, The Smurfs, and AL-VIN!
Saturday mornings used to be my favorite time of the week.
Because of Charlie Brown and Garfield making me laugh.

The 80's wasn't anything special for Chicago sports.
The Bears won a Super Bowl with an 18-1 record in 1985.
The Cubs used to play daytime baseball all year long at home,
Til Wrigley Field got lights in 1988.

The 80's wasn't anything special in my social life.
Although I met a sweet girl named Stephanie.
Her cute face is still in my head.
I hope one day I can name a future daughter Stephanie.

The 80's had a lot of memories for me.
I saw the greatest Black sitcom in TV history.
That being the Cosby Show.
Thanks for the memories, Mr. 80's.
The best decade of my life.
