Knight to Pawn

by lostwithin   Feb 17, 2008

It never turns out the way i want it to.
It never comes out quite right.
Every time i think i found him,
he turns out to be a knight.
Not a knight in shining armour,
just one that has a rusted suit.
I can never find the man of my dreams,
That is willing to make the move.
He is always the one that is half way on the horse,
but can not quite make his way to the top.
He will almost be there,
but before you know it he just stops.
The effort is no longer there,
and the suit is completely gone,
and he is downgraded to a pawn.
The expectations that were there at the beginning,
are no longer there at the end.
The only thought that comes to my mind,
is to wonder why ever guy that is almost there,
decides to be only my friend.
