Through The Eyes Of A Senior

by Kittens Poems   Feb 18, 2008

Through the eyes of a senior
the knowledge they will share
they have so much history
and they have already been there

Sit, listen and hear what they say
Ask many questions,
They will be gone from us someday

They have been through it all
from the good times to the bad.
Some have lost someone special,
Some have lost all they've had.

They have lived through wars
and some have buried a child,
But don't say they don't know,
how to forgive and to smile.

They have seen their children
grow up, get married and have children too
Many of them have great grand children too.

Life revolved around family and friends
getting older sometimes means
they need to depend.

Through the eyes of a senior
Is a beautiful thing
someday share, care and listen
to the stories they bring.

It's important to listen now
to the stories that are told
cuz as we need to repeat to our kids
what we've been told.

Through the eyes of a senior
history, memories and love
sit and spend time with the
ones that we care of.

I really like the flow to this poem. you are a very good writer, the one thing I do when I write is I hear the rythem in my head and I let the words wander out. It works! You also definately captured the feeling and the essence of being older. also, thanks for the comment on my new poem!

Very nice work. Now that I am a senior, I wish I had spent more time listening and learning from my elders, they do have so much to share, so many memories. Well done.
