Shadow Friend

I have a friend
He's all to me.
He's my brother,
As you can see.

When I do sleep
He watches me.
And when I wake
He's there for me.

When I'm cheerless,
He makes me bright.
Or fears I have,
He takes the fight.

When I'm lost,
He lights my way.
When I'm lonely,
He's here to stay.

No matter what
My troubles are,
Or faults I have,
He's never far.

All my problems
He helps to mend,
You may know him-
My shadow friend.
