Puzzle of thoughts

by Sam McMasters   Feb 19, 2008

Looking back to memories of my first,
seem so small to what no is so big.
The future can not be denied,
for it is there in front of my face,
in the reflection of my being.

Unsure of the future, for what is unknown,
is rearranged in thought everyday.
Will it be as a checker board,
every precise square cloned to perfection,
or will it be as the mountains in the distance,
jagged and rough, unsure of boundaries around you.

Thoughts of loneliness in the mind
when those walls are unfamiliar,
but yet to be colored.
Afraid that the light guiding me from the crack
at the bottom of the door,
will be dimmed,
to only darkness.

Will time pass
without waving or sending a friendly gesture,
or will it be my bench to sit upon,
to view the life,
the person I am privileged to say I am.
