Winter Fire (free verse)

by Marin   Feb 27, 2008

The weather is beautiful
The scenery is one to behold
This life, a calm one
It’s quiet
All is white and silent
Excluding the loud green firs
Then suddenly,
The silence has broken
Darkness diffuses into the atmosphere
I sense a disturbance off in the distance
I rush to the scene, I come to a pause
I see a red-orange figure, grinning
“Snap, crackle, crack” he speaks
But make no sense
Screams of horror infect my ears
Beating my heart, like a used drum
As the figure claim another life
I realize, to him mercy does not exist
He is the disturbance in life
The evil in the snow,
the devil in pure energy
as this tragedy ends
I ask myself
will it be over, when hell freezes over?
