On My Own

by Jill Turner   May 19, 2004

I sit here staring out the window,
Trying to figure out what's out there.
Wanting to run, wanting to fly,
Cause being stuck in here isn't fair.
I want to go explore,
And find myself.
I want to be on my own,
And achieve my own wealth.
Can't you see, that this is just a visit,
Not a long term stay.
I don't want to live the life you want,
I want to live it my own way.
I'm not your little girl any more,
I'm all big, I'm all grown.
I love you both, you've taught me well,
But it's time I learned on my own.
I know it's gonna hurt you,
To watch me go, watch me leave,
But it's not good-bye cause I'll be back soon.
