Love was a magician's trick

by Matt L   Feb 28, 2008

I hesitate to use the word love
How can we know so young?
A consuming desperation for closeness
A consuming desperation for contact

Deprived of family
A life of pain, stolen innocence and bruised features
Innocence of a boy was something to feed on
To take revenge on for the crimes men had committed to you

A magician's trick it was to make him fall in love
Easily done with your eyes and your smile
A touch here a word there
Looks that could move a mountain, moved my heart

Your innocence was lost years ago
My own was to be ripped from me
I grew up fast they tell me
Easily understood when growing up took a few heartbeats

Childhood was loss started with a simple kiss
Adulthood was reach with a simple phrase
