My Dreams

by Sharlene   Feb 29, 2008

My dreams they are elusive
Like a star bright in the sky

They look so close but are so far
But my heart makes me deny

Deny the fact that I can't have them
Though they drown my dreams at night

Like a throng of bees the swarm my mind
When dark they are my light

I dream of things that are impossible
But to me they are so real

The invisible I see so clear
And the untouchable I fill

I see the life that I want so bad
Instead of this privation that I live

But because right now it's all I've got
I steep up my tears and deal

Deal wit the fact that this world is nefarious
And instead close my eyes and dream

Of diamonds cars and fancy houses
And forget this world is mean

But until that day I'll run this life
Like a Ferrari runs the road

With eyes closed and a mind of free
That dreams of Cadillacs and gold
