Dear Elizabeth

by Melissa Sara DeMaio   Feb 29, 2008

Dear Elizabeth,

We promised ourselves
we would always be friends
we would stick together
and be there till the end

We promised ourselves
we woulden't drift apart
but now we're too different
to make a new start

We promised ourselves
we would never fight
there would be nothing between us
and our friendship would always be tight

We promised ourselves
we would be together till the end
you were nothing more or less
then my very best friend

But then came that night
when we got into a fight
and ever since then
nothing was or will be right

The memories of you
still come back to haunt me
then I see you in school
and you and your new friends taunt me

I'm running out of things to say
i just always that
our friendship was to strong
to end in one solid day

I hate when things like that happen. It really and truly hurts. It like they cut out a big piece of you(well it is for me anyways).

    Nice Work.

This poem is meaningful and deep. It could use a little work as far as rhythm goes, but the other factors were amazing. I really like it, I think you write beautifully.
