Dirty Rainbows

by Molly May   Mar 3, 2008

Lonely path through the dark
One single step at a time

Vines entangle these two feet
Tripping and stumbling
All through the night

Hands shoot out for some support
Gripping at thinning air
Swiping and Slapping
Only with further frustration

Knees bleeding from the
Rugged terrain
Rocks and sand lodge in
Cracks of cuts
Setting up settlements
Inviting disease in for the day

Elbows bruised from all the
Falls
Landing is rather rough

Aggravation resides under
Nails
A disastrous display of disgust

Walls of trees surround the heart
A fortress suppressing the
Unknown
Protection from the
Unwanted

Loose lips
Split lips
Lips of unsettling thoughts
Muttering and mumbling
Emotions and affections
Lost in the whistling wind

So much pain
So much suffering
Clouds covering all creation

Almond eyes with
Tears of rainbows
Barreling down black cheeks

An open window into the soul
Colors this darkened path
