Breathing (White Canvas)

by Viola   Mar 6, 2008

Cover the walls in white canvases
And leave your mark upon them
The dew of the morning flowers
Dripping rain on the casket
Way before time parted ways with reality

Take your antique brush
Lift it cautiously in between your decaying fingers
Slowly now, there is no time for that
Before the lights all turn off
And the actors turn their faces
And head home in the winter's howling wind

Paint dazzling stars and moons
To help us remember those times
Shinning in reflections of golden light
Until the shadows of our hearts drew near
And slowly painted it all black
One fragment at a time

Faster now, you're headed home
You don't want to leave here with bear walls
Caught beneath the landslides
The truths never spoken aloud
The faded faces of your neighbors
There isn't a place to belong

The mistakes you made won't ever be gone
Might as well write them out loud
So cover the walls in white canvases my love
And paint on them the colours of your breathing heart

You're still breathing
............................You're still breathing
........................................................You're still breathing
Tonight
