The Titanic

by MissAlyssaGraff   Mar 10, 2008

You're sitting at dinner,
with all your first class friends.
Figuring out which fork to use,
while discussing the latest trends.
You pretend to care,
as you eat your es-cargo.
But really, you've always wondered,
what it would be like to just let go.
Then he looks at you,
you can see the burning passion in his eyes.
He asks you meet at the clock,
so you leave the table and say your goodbyes.
As you walk up the steps to the clock,
he puts out his hand for you to take.
You realize he wants you,
he wants more than just a handshake.
You reach for his hand,
and he pulls you in close.
He caresses your back and says,
"Run away with my Rose!"
You giggle at his statement,
while knowing he's not joking.
"You're crazy!" you say,
but your mind is still debating.
He searches your eyes for the answer,
but you try not to give in.
You write your answer and hand it to him,
then he opens up the napkin.
He traces over your words,
with his index finger.
Reading your words out loud,
"I'm ready to leave my life, I'm tired of the glamor".
Then you hear a creak,
then a shatter.
You hear the water rushing,
coming in litre by litre.
You scream his name,
"Jack, what do we do!?"
Then he kisses you like it's the last kiss you'll get,
but yet it feels so new.
He makes you jump in the nearest boat,
but you don't want to let him go.
So you jump back on the ship,
everyone thinks you're a psycho!
You save him from the bottom deck,
then the ship splits in two.
You're both hanging on for dear life,
waiting for rescue.
As the ship has it's last breath,
you both fall into the cold, deep ocean.
There's no hope left,
you won't even have a coffin.
But he tells you to not give up,
just keep swimming.
It's so hard to concentrate,
your thoughts are silenced by all the screaming.
Then you catch hold to an object in the water,
he makes you keep a promise.
A promise to live on,
and to not remain careless and childless.
Finally a boat comes to your rescue,
but he isn't moving.
You just keep shaking him,
pushing off the fact of dying.
As the years went by,
you never forgot the look of love on his face.
You kept your promise to him,
you now have three kids, and a fireplace.
A fireplace to keep them warm,
your deepest fear is coldness.
But the lesson of love he had taught her,
was definitely priceless.
