Ariel

I hear of walks on the shore and sand between the toes
The ringing of a phone on the table
I linger on about the human's thing so called love
What are those things that they call a label,

Tell me more about
That one world that hath land
For I live under the sea
Give me a hand,

I want to walk where the people go
I want to hear of romance
I linger to know what those labels are
Everything overwhelms me with a trance,

I want to feel the sand
As I wiggle it through my toes
I want to know what love feels like
I want to know what goes on between two foes,

I want to walk where the humans can
Lean near me and tell of the stories
That goes on from the real world
As I'm here under the seas,

Explain to me what having legs is like
As I have the tails of a fish
For I am a simple mermaid
Wanting to go on land just a simple wish,

What’s it like to live like a human
How is it to hop on the grass
As the sweet sun rises
And the rays shine like brass,

I want to walk where the people go
I want to know what romance is like
I linger to know what a label is
I wish to learn how to ride a bike,

But I am only a simple mermaid
With a wish to live above
With all the humans
And fall in love,

I want to learn their ways
Of living up there
Where the sun shines
I wait as my heart is about to tear.
