Old times

by Lyssa   Feb 12, 2009

Ever remember those days
When we'd beg our parents
To let us have sleepovers,
Even though it was a school night?

We'd do anything possible
To get them to say yes,
"Ground me, spank me,
Take anything away.
I just want to be with my best friend."

Remember when we
Used to have tons of inside jokes
That no one could ever quite figure out?
And remember those nights
We stayed up late
Just so we could spill our guts
To each other

And remember trusting each other with our lives?
Remember those times?
Remember when we used to do pinky promises?

Remember how we used to
Make up the most stupid jokes
Just to try and get each other to smile
At least once when we were sad?

I know you miss it
Along with me
But what happened to the old us?

Remember the old times?
When we were truly best friends?
Attached by the hip
As everyone always said

We couldn't even look
At each other without laughing
Making it even more funny

Remember the nights
We'd stay up laughing over
The most random things you
Could honestly ever think of?

I don't think either of us
Know quite what to say
But I bet we're both thinking
The same thing

Once we fought
It got into a routine
A routine you really don't want

And the routine followed on
All three years of our friendship
And now we both wish for the past

Remember when we used to fight
About stupid, little things
And now that it's gone,
We miss it?

I guess times move on
And so do friends
But deep down
No matter what happens

You'll always be my best friend
At heart and at soul
Through good and bad
Whether we're being
Chased by ladybugs or
Staying up spilling our guts

Remember?
