Eden's Hope

by Rich   May 21, 2004

Sitting alone in my garden so still,
The butterfly's gone now,
And I'm losing my will,
So I go for a walk;
To take a look from my hill.

I get there to find beauty is waiting,
The beauty I had lost,
And she's back now, baiting;
My heart once again beats,
The dead tissue pulsating.

Her long, flowing hair,
Dark as the night,
Against skin so fair;
The purest pale white.
I take a step up
That I might catch her scent
But she takes a step back
And I fall into descent.

Her voice is insistent;
Again, telling me "no",
And although I'm persistent,
She continues to go.
I chase her through fields,
Through the woods in my mind.
I leap over mountains,
But I'm falling behind.
I search through my garden,
She doesn't answer my calls,
I search in the forests,
And behind great waterfalls.
I look in the valleys,
I search high and low,
But she's left me again,
For a place I don't know.

That beauty was Love;
Her eyes full of hope,
And once more she's left me
Alone here to cope.
