Little Baby

Shhhhhhh
Listen, listen.
Can you hear it?
Can you hear the cries?
They poison my ears like warm arsenic coating my throat.

Hush little baby, Im not gonna hurt you.
Im here only to show you the right kind of affection.
Not the kind from sick minded suckas who are on a journey of self empowerment.

Let me mend your broken heart,
I knew I brought scotch tape and super glue for a reason.
Pure as sugar,
Now your sugar has been laced with pain and sleepless nights.
He's in your dreams,
He should be charged with invasion of privacy,
but the evidence is scarce.

But still it continues in your head today.
Pause. Rewind. Play.
He goes on living his life in fast forward.
But you sit there.
Pause. Rewind. Play.

Every smell reminds you of him.
Every promise already broken.
Tears run down my face like I turned on a faucet.
He got away because you screamed the deadliest scream: SILENCE.

The guilt melts your heart like wax that's burning.
The lies mess with your head like solitary confinement would.
But little baby,
You've made your own bars. Your own prison.
You can run but you can't hide.
The hiding places that you once possessed are broken,
your heart says DEAL DEAL.
Your mind says RUN RUN.
But you can't separate from your skin fast enough.

So you help it. Every tear at the skin an attempt to leave.
You drowning in the pool of tears that he left you with.
You wanted someone to love you, he asked for your heart,
so you ripped it out of your chest and there it laid: beating.
But only for a short time, until he took it and
Made a smoothie with it to quench his disgusting thirst.

Little baby, deal.
Little baby, cry.
Little baby, speak up.
Little baby, may your soul heal.
And your heart mend.
Little baby, you were only a baby.
It's time to let goooo.
