As I cry my love away

by Mike Wilburn   Mar 13, 2008

Question my spirituality, question my energy
Say I'm skin deep a hollow shell
Settle for the man you never loved completely
Question not my motive or character
I am so much more than you gave me credit for
Hit the ground running and show me the door

I can't write about roses or violets
My prose and verse to my own self be true
To know me is to love me, I've heard that one before
My heart beats passion quite succinctly
Romantic interpretation kindles my desire
Stories of true love light my fire

This serendipitous journey my minds confusion
Eloquent verse and rhyme paint a picture
Of paradise lost an agonizing account
Rose colored glasses, blue or green
Don't hide a shallow essence
Answers aren't easy in a warped reality

Abandon the memories, leave them behind
Chase a new vision a more balanced love
Search and squander the fountain of youth
Shallow the well a mirage unsubstantiated
Gamble away truth sacrificing integrity
Of dreams bordering illusion and fantasy

Betray insatiable love from one so true
Lie, cheat and steal breaking the deal
Wound the child shatter the man
Take leaving nothing a horrific fate
Invisible commitment a shadow passing
Slither away a precise metaphor

Heart left bleeding
Death a choice contemplated
Realization you're unworthy
Heal my heart, mind and soul
Purge the memories
As I cry my love away

This one sure tugs at your heartstrings. A very powerful write. Again, an excellent word choice and flow in this emotional free verse. Great job!
