My Fault

by Hannah Mhairi   Mar 13, 2008

If I had listened to my dad he'd never have got cancer, so it's my fault that now everyone who knew him are changed, to duller, grieving people.

You always yelled at me,
Said I wasn't seeing clear,
Well, what would you say now,
If you were still here.

You told me I was lucky,
To have the things I do,
Well what have I got now,
When I don't even have you.

I hope you know I'm sorry,
I hope you know I care,
But most of all I hope you know,
It's not your fault you're up there.

I know that it is my fault,
No matter what people say,
I know if I'd been a better kid,
You'd still be here today.

If I hadn't made a fuss,
Of the tiny tests I had,
If only i could've seen then,
That my lot wasn't so bad.

You wouldn't have got cancer,
Let alone be dead,
You'd still be yelling at me now,
If I had just done what you said.

And I know it's my fault,
That you went through such pain,
But you said it was worth it,
If I could smile again.

I want you to know now,
I hate what I have done,
And out of every fault I have,
This, is my worst one.
