Through Your Eyes

by Rachel   Mar 16, 2008

The moon reflects in your hazel eyes,
giving the illusion that I can see into your soul.
Your features seem so defined,
as I'm seeing you in this different light.
The grey in your hair, every line on your face.
I'm noticing things I haven't before,
The way you wear your glasses at the bridge of your nose while you're reading
And how your face lights up when you smile.
All the little ways you expose yourself to the world,
the way you reach out to others so quietly.
You walk around with your head held high
A look of concern, maybe of sadness, written across your face.
I just want to break away all the boundaries,
and forget about time,
and just be there with you, so you're not so lonely,
so you have someone to talk to.
You choose your words so carefully, they're full of meaning.
And the way you speak them makes me believe that you care,
You speak right to my heart.
Just know, you inspire me like no other.
Everyone that I've ever trusted have always left,
but you're still here.
You're my hero, and I pray to God every night,
hoping that you know that.
Come take a walk with me,
tell me what you've been hiding within yourself.
Tell me what makes you smile.
Just tell me anything that's worth knowing.
Because when the sun reflects in your eyes,
it reminds me that life has purpose,
and life has answers,
you just have to ask for them.
