My Best Friend

A little different he may be,
But he'll always have a part of me,
To listen, help, he's always there,
I know he surely does care.
I accept him for him,

People have treated him differently,
Made fun of him,
But I'm sure it's just because of jealousy.

He's the best cousin God could give,
Without him I'm weak,
But together we're invincible,
And it's very visible,

If you just give him a chance

My best friend is Jared Alexander. He has autism and is 14 years old. He has had autism for 11 years. For those of you who don't know what that is; Autism is a complex developmental disability that really typically appears during the first 3 years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, making communication harder. I dedicate this poem to him, because he has been treated differently for a problem that he cannot control, and some people do not accept him for that. I would gladly take his autism for him so he would be accepted and be able to live a normal and great life. I love him very much and everything I have written in this poem is in my own words from the heart.
