Fall Reminder

by Joe Piedmonte   Mar 19, 2008

Between the dead
leave trees I
walked as wind
blew through
their desolate
forms filling my
eyes with a
thousand elderly
hands clapping.
Slowly
some came
swirling from
up high and I
could faintly
feel the trickle
of their brown
blood falling.
Sounds of
their soft
bones breaking
beneath my
feet brought
light to my
own decay as
I gave nod to
autumns applause.
