A Walk Through Life

by JaM   Mar 21, 2008

When you first begin your journey,
your way beyond oblivious to the world,
your soul is innocent and harmless,
you have not yet been corrupted.

Nothing can stop you from smiling,
your as happy as a child could be,
careless days pass by with no meaning,
you couldn't ask for anything more.

Time goes on as it always will,
slowly your body develops,
the feeling of growing up is exciting,
your so eager to reach your full potential.

The great times and discoveries are priceless,
safely hidden in your heart forever,
remembering how bright the days were,
when simple was life.

Each day you learn something new,
you begin to yearn for more knowledge,
curiosity becomes a bigger part of life,
beginning to cause troubles unknown.

Your surroundings become clear,
you begin to understand,
you silently question what you don't,
a time of voice will come soon.

Rules and responsibilities become strict,
so many years of others decisions,
still forced to abide against your will,
the pain of life can be unbearable.

Growing up includes bills and obligations,
which becomes a thought in your every day,
there's no escape or a chance of relief,
a constant pressure on your mind.

You begin to think like a weak person,
have moments to release your stress,
pout like you once did at a young age,
then sigh and creep back to reality.

As life goes on you begin to feel old,
although your skin has no wrinkles,
tragedies occur along the way,
these things should not have happened.

With each lesson you take a bit with you,
down the long path you will travel,
every day has it's own adventure,
with every bit you become stronger.

I know the end is far from where I am,
but I have enough pain and sorrow,
I have lived my life in the dark,
but through my walk I have found the light.

Usually a long poem begins to drag on and make the reader wich it would just get over, but this is simply not the case her. the poem is persistantly well written with desription and a consistant flow and structure.
