Remember Me, America

by Weeping Wolf   Mar 26, 2008

I know you don't know me
But I have something to say
I haven't been made in history, yet
Still I feel I must write to you anyway.

It won't be easy to explain,
I was so young, but I had to change
The home they provided instead pained
And the laws they made, held my freedom at bay.

So as a child born into war
I decided it was my right to fight
For the one thing I would die for-
If Lost.

Remember Me, America
because I chose freedom
for one so young, I was so strong
For hands so small, I held tight
For a body so frail, I was not broken
And I kept the promise in my heart.

Once freedom was achieved, there was more
I built canvases of colors, so brilliant and strange
Couldn't live my life flat on the floor
looking up at the shining stage...

And took up holding the flag for Love
I said to it endlessly, as my faith, my way
praising the crown, the cross, the dove
And the boy I promised, to never change.

Remember Me, America
remember my wild existence
remember my dream's persistence
My love became an ever-fixed mark
And I kept the promise in my heart.

I lived the legacy I craved
the art of endless imagining
Something simple, yet so brave
and even achieved the happy ending.

But as the years passed slower
100 years, every day coming closer...
And I asked Him, what was worth
the strength of 10,000 hearts
within a small body that was breaking apart?

Remember Me, America
Because I am a lot like Hope
I can seem so delicate sometimes
but I can also be the strongest thing alive.
Everything I have said is true
I am America, I am a part of you.
Remember Me America,
because I made my love and ever-fixed mark
and to the very end, I kept the promise in my heart.

Don't forget, sweet country
I am a part of America
and always- will- be.

Oh my dear... that's amazing! You have no idea how much I love this peace. There is so much passion and confidence behind your words, and that, along with soo many other things, makes me smile.

    You're wonderful. :)
