Bright eyes wider

by Mr. Darcy   Mar 26, 2008

'We're ready mum!'
The chorus cries.
Joyous faces,
bright eyes wide.

The door flies open
So, seven bound.
Dashing, darting,
eggs to be found.

Thinking, twitching
Side to side,
Why, oh why
so hard to find?

Every bush
tree and fence.
Looks the same,
No difference.

A cotton sheet
on cotton toes.
Scampering in
the deep cold snow.

Brothers, sisters
the same as me.
Searching, searching
nothing to see.

Saddened faces
Who just don't know,
Why this Easter
It had to snow?

Eggs lay hidden
beneath the cold.
This bunny's tale
Is surely told?

.......................

................

I do not think
This is the end
So, please read on
my special friend.

......................

...............

Sadness etched
In bunny eyes
Together now
They softly cry.

Brothers, sisters
Gaze to heaven.
Pray together
Yes, all seven!

So, it happened
Warm rain did fall
Melted the shroud
a miracle.

Sparkling eggs
scattered around.
now defrosting.
Set to be found

Beaming bunnies
Now find their eggs
Filling baskets
with happiness.

The sun came out
shining its light
a new rainbow
Easter delight.

Rejoice this day
Its meaning too.
Jesus rose up
And so can you.

Quite the quick, rapid poem to read.. it flowed beautifully and imagery in this was great. A really neat poem about Easter.. in the middle it gets sad cause they cant find their eggs haha, but in the end it's quite the uplifting happy piece. :]

    Well done.. cute little poem.

This poem was a delight to read. Conjured up images of children running round a large garden with small tree, climbing to find the eggs. It was a treasure. I will read more of your work with anticipation. THankyou for sharing. I have added you as a fave author Mr Darcy X

I liked the poem when it ended at - why it had to snow. I think that part made the poem for me - short and to a point where I could relate. It snowed here in Jamestown New York as well over easter. NIce write!!
