Grown Apart

by Cathy   Mar 26, 2008

Sweet kisses and your tender touch
was why I fell in love and needed you so much
but since those small things have simply disappeared
I now see everything so clear

We've grown apart after growing up together
we've seemed to forget we once said forever
I look at the pretty ring shining on my finger
my heart yearns to have it all back, but instead our love lingers

No more laughs on the telephone when you leave our home
the phone lays in silent while I sit there alone
your whispers in the night that put a smile on my face
gone in the darkness, gone without a trace

when you lay down next to me, I can hear you breath
I watch your chest go up and down, and wonder if that heart holds me
I want to put my hand over your shoulder just to let you know
than I'm laying down beside you, and don't ever want to go

Another sad poem! Filled with uncertainty and longing. You really just lay all your emotions out on the page.
