Wishes upon stars

Why cant we go back to the way we were
That day when the sun did shine.
Why cant we go back to the way we were
That day when all you said was forever you'll be mine.

I have wished upon a million stars
And it always ended up the same,
With me waking in the middle of the night
Crying and screaming out your name.

But now i know that fairy tales are not true
Along with wishing upon stars.
I guess i will have to wait forever
For you to come unlock my prison bars.

The key to set me free
You hold inside your heart.
And every day that you are with her
the key comes more and more apart.

    I could relate with the wishing upon stars because I have spent countless hours in my balcony just whispering my deepest secrets to the brightest of stars. There were moments in the poem were ut was too cliche for my taste and I had read that a million times before in other pieces ... I know how easy it is to lose yourself in cliche phrases with love poetry but try not to lose your originality. Well done.

    Very beautiful poem. One thing I would change though.

    "That day when all you said was forever you'll be mine."
    - To something like,
    'That day you said you'll be forever mine'

    It's a long sentence you have, and it ruins the flow of the first verse. Just a suggestion :)

    I could relate to this one at one point. The emotion was deep and true. The flow was strong through out the poem and it had great word choice. 5/5
