Poverty

by allidoiswrite82   Mar 28, 2008

Hold on to this inspiration
while I go check on a conversation
that I was having prior to your salutation

Hold on to this love for me
While I publicly
scream at the top of my lungs to this country
to find out where they be

Hold on to this rationalization
While upon completion
of this creation
that I intend on releasing upon this entire nation

Open up your eyes for me
And explain why poverty
Is at the bottom of your list
Like it doesn't existed

When is life gonna change for them
Who is gonna complain for them
And make sure things begin to happen

Because I'm tried of giving out change
These 2,3,4 dollars ain't gonna change
The situation I see outside my window pane

So I walk outside and ask him why

Why do you think these cars pass you by and stare
And why don't these people care
And why cant they relinquish their hand from that dime
Or at least give you 10 minutes of their time
To bless you with a little piece of mind
I swear this should be crime

There needs to be a police officer on every corner you go
making people roll slow
And at least acknowledge the fact that I already know
That poverty is a disease

And it has infected our streets
Our towns
Our Cities
Our nation
Our world

and the funny thing about this disease
Is that its curable
But nobody is looking for the antidote

And why

Because shades and blinds
cover our windows
So we don't have to look outside
when the wind blows
So we can look the other way when the temp goes
way below zero
And the rain froze
Cause its not your problem
when your eyes cant see but your brain knows
Then they flash images across the TV of these souls
Broken hearted stumped in the ground with their woes
And you flip the channel so quick
Like I cant believe they are trying to impose
On you watching for the fifth time the same shows

Poverty is an epidemic
But ignorance glows
brighter then the high beams on Mr. Senator's Rolls

I cant believe that they're sold
on the way were living life
there selling death like it gold

And everybody is not a millionaire
I understand that
But everybody has got the ability to make in impact
Whenever you need something you think your getting it gift wrapped
But soon as they as for some help you say get back

We eat food when we want to
We throw food away when we don't want it
We by watches and rings just to flaunt it
And when we get to the afterlife
I sure hope you gotta plan
Man!
Cause I don't think God is gonna understand man
And you know where your gonna be knee deep standing
In the fires of hell wishing that your were a little less demanding

Poverty is a disease
But unkindness is a death sentence

Perhaps thats were we need to focus our attention
Because if people were more kind
Then they would be more open minded
To help out those who are stranded
Left bare naked and abandon
And we can begin to change the land when
No child goes to bed empty handed

Poverty is a disease

But unkindness

Is

A

Death

Now, this one amazes me. The message is clear, and it's a very good one. I think that everyone that reads this is going to take at least some of your advice....good job...
Just make sure to go through and make sure that things are spelt right, and that you use the right form of a word...otherwise, amazing.
