Eternally tortured

by Ares   Apr 6, 2008

If I only had a key in to heaven,
if I only had a friend, even two maybe seven,
and I've got a thousand wounds,
this cough is painful,
my face is getting old,
and my body feels the cold.

but this could work if we just work it together,
if we took the toll and just said it was forever,
I only wanted to get a hug from my dad,
please don't give the look that claims I've been bad.

does no one understand?
what it takes to be a man?
so God, loving God,
send me back to hell.

I'm eternally,
eternally,
oh God let me,
be tortured for eternity.

six men, six hands is holding round his gravestone,
no one knows who's the next man to get blown,
because he works during night and maybe on weekends,
you can trust a God but you can never trust your best friend.

does no one understand?
what it takes to be a man?
so God, loving God,
send me back to hell.

I'm eternally,
eternally,
oh God let me,
be tortured for eternity.

Excellent piece of yours! the introduction couldn't be done any better.. and when i read that i can truly identify myself in that situation.

I'm somehow really in a "little" crisis right now with something called a GOD.. i have lost my faith so far.. and this wonderful poem really makes me think. it feeds my thoughts.. thanks for the inspiration!

Really, I think you're an amazing poet--this is a rich poem...I can't think of anything to add to it. The way you throw yourself into a character really helps the story. You say things in a way that is just..wow...good job. Crazy good message.

I think if this is your image about God, it is pretty cruel ( I don't mean to offend you by saying this). You know...so far in any religion (I think) God only will punish only the people who have done wrong.. So far I think God is Merciful and Compassionate towards to good people.

What I feel about your poem is that you might feel guilty about something.. When I feel I have done wrong/ I am doing wrong I see God punishing me..

This is great poem, a lot of thoughts and emotions. Well done. :)
