Concrete Jungle

by Divergirl013   Apr 8, 2008

Cold concrete and steel fill the horizon.
Giant clouds of smog choke the skies.
Long winding tunnels carve out a path.
The world around us slowly dies.

Endless waves of chatter fill the dead air.
Fluorescent screens torment and burn.
Great metal beasts doomed to repeat there paths.
The thirst for poison takes its turn.

Leaves reach towards the withering light.
Roots scour dried up lands.
Steel vines enfold decaying forests.
Neglected gardens restrained by rough unfeeling hands.

Unyielding fumes block out the sun.
Rivers and seas run dry.
Fields once prosperous wither and rot.
Air contaminated by our toxic lie.

Around the globe the devastation spreads.
By its nature our life is at its close.
The stones hold tightens on the world.
The concrete jungle still grows.
