Legend of the Past

by The Invisible Boy   Apr 9, 2008

Archery, treachery and deceit
The legend of the past
Some real and complete
Others made up but made to last

Songs and ballads fill the air
Folktales in the pub
As the old man sits in his chair
Telling tales and eating his grub

Turpin galloping away to his cave
Robyne Hude the yeoman
Hamlet died to save
Fagin's life didn't go to plan
Fawkes lit a match to his grave

Horses, poison and the noose
Some were good but others bad
Some executed because of their abuse
Others killed for something that they had

Turpin galloping away to his cave
Robyne Hude the yeoman
Hamlet died to save
Fagin's life didn't go to plan
Fawkes lit a match to his grave

Run away and save yourselves
Steer far away from how we know you downfall
We'll pull down the tales from our shelves
Lose ourselves in them and be enthralled

Turpin, Robin, Hamlet, Fagin, Fawkes
The legend of the past
The subject of many talks
I just hope my legend too will last
